## About
Something Awful is a web forum with subforums on general discussion, video games, technical support and debate, run on paid registrations rather than advertising, with roughly 150,000 registered members known as Goons.

Something Awful is a discussion forum organized into subforums including General Bullshit, Video Games, Traditional Games, Debate and Discussion, Ask/Tell and Serious Hardware/Software, each moderated by named users. The site states it charges a one-time $10 registration fee because it does not rely on internet advertising, with roughly 150,000 registered members called Goons out of 214,209 total users.

Despite that stance, the site does sell a Banner Ad placement on the web channel, priced at a flat $7.95 a month. Members can also pay to remove ads from their own view of the forums, alongside other paid options such as Platinum upgrades and custom avatars.
