PolitiFact has published fact-checking journalism since 2007, rating specific statements made by politicians and public figures for accuracy on a scale it calls the Truth-o-Meter, running from True and Mostly True through Half True, Mostly False, False and Pants on Fire. It is owned by the nonprofit Poynter Institute. Coverage on the site spans campaigns including the 2026 midterms, state editions for states such as California, Florida, Michigan, Texas and Wisconsin, and issue pages covering topics from immigration and health care to guns and foreign policy, alongside trackers for political promises such as the Obameter and Trump-O-Meter.

Its ads.txt file lists 82 ad system lines, with 25 direct and 76 reseller entries, naming sales houses including MediaFuse, OpsCo, Next Millennium Media, Inc. and 33Across Inc.
