El Periódico publishes Spanish-language news centered on Catalonia and Barcelona, alongside national Spanish and international coverage of politics, economy, society, culture and sport, with local editions for cities including Tarragona, Girona, Lleida, Sabadell, Terrassa and Badalona, plus an opinion section, a podcast programme, a Catalan-language edition and coverage of traffic and transport around Barcelona, along with interviews with local political figures such as the mayor of Barcelona.

Advertising includes a half-page display ad sold by auction on an impression basis. Its ads.txt file lists 182 ad systems, 46 of them direct.
