Two formats are offered: a sponsored ad that appears below a ChatGPT answer, and a product carousel that surfaces a set of items relevant to a user's query. Both formats are worked into the conversational answer rather than shown on a separate results page.

Because placements sit alongside a direct answer to a user's question, the advertising is tied closely to the specific topic the person asked about in that conversation.
