Publishers offering "Homepage Takeover" spots

A homepage takeover gives one advertiser the whole front page for a day or a set period, often with branded backgrounds, large banners and sometimes a video. Smithsonian Media and Dallas Weekly both sell takeovers, and YouTube Ads sells a masthead.

How it's sold
You book it with the publisher's sales team, since takeovers are usually reserved by date. Thirty-nine of the 40 publishers sell it on the web, and one sells it on a search page.
What it costs
Most publishers quote this on request, usually as a flat fee per day.
What you supply
You supply a set of banners in several sizes, a background image, and often a video, all cut to the publisher's specification.
Best for
It suits brands that want a big launch moment with total visibility on the day.
Before you buy
Ask which dates are free and how many visitors the homepage receives on a normal day.
